Best Trips for Young Couples: Memphis
Let me start by saying that I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and have made the “tourist” rounds several times through the years. However, when my boyfriend made the trip from Miami to the 901 with me to visit my family for the first time, I saw this city in a whole new light! So for those who are looking to take a fun trip as a couple or are maybe a local looking to explore Memphis with that special someone, here is my recommendation for some great adventures for Young Couples in Memphis!
Graceland, but add in the Sun Studios:
I’m a proud Memphian who loves Elvis and that means I appreciate the importance of visiting Graceland. However, we can’t ignore the fact that it is the top tourist destination in the city, so it can get busy and crowded.
So while we had a blast visiting the home of Elvis, I wanted to also show off the other major music influences Memphis has to offer – so we also booked a tour with Sun Studio. I’ve done this tour about 4 times and I love it every time! This location is more cozy and personal- add in the location near to downtown and this also makes for a great date location!
Outside of the amazing music, my favorite part of visiting Memphis is definitely the food! While I could go on and on about what I think is the best food in town – I’ll just mention a few that would be great locations to take your special someone and impress them with your spectacular taste! For BBQ, the Rendezvous is always a crowd pleaser! It is also centrally located in downtown so you can combine it with some after-dinner drinks.
If you end up sight-seeing downtown during the weekday, I definitely recommend the Little Tea Shop which is my all time favorite place to eat in Memphis and is considered one of the oldest restaurant location in the city!
Another fun thing to do while in downtown Memphis, is to take the trolley as your mode of transportation when exploring Main Street. The route is conveniently located right through the middle of several of the must-see spots in the area so you can combine a fun experience with helpful transportation!
Hang with the Ducks
Now, if you are ready to step it up a notch and create an elegant experience for you and your beau, then you must plan an evening at the Peabody Hotel! It is THE place to hang if you want to see any celebrities and the who’s who of Memphis – plus if you plan your schedule right – you can see the world famous Peabody Ducks as they make their parade through the lobby and into the fountain.
Don’t forget to make your way to the top deck as well, so you can check out the amazing views of the river and downtown – plus, if you missed the ducks, you can see their luxurious home that’s also located on the top deck…pent house style!
Sunset at the Madison
Finally, if you feel like you need some major relax and unwind time after your busy days, you should check the schedule at the Madison so you can enjoy the amazing view from their rooftop! They tend to host fabulous happy hour events at sunset, which is the perfect way to end your day!
So hopefully these recommendations will help you out when you are planning your trip to Memphis! I have tons of additional recommendations if you need any more details! I would be happy to help you, just send me a tweet @TravelBlogueras and I got you!
